Our Commitment
Pivot & Paper is a two-person editorial studio. The information you share with us — your resume, career history, goals, and personal details — is treated as private client work, not marketing data. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why, and the limited number of parties who ever see it.
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not train third-party AI models on it.
Information We Collect
We collect information in three ways: when you enquire, when you order, and when you visit the site.
- 01Enquiry & intake data — name, email, phone (optional), current and target role, industry, LinkedIn URL, and the details you share in your goals or intake questionnaire.
- 02Order & payment data — items purchased, order total, and your order reference. Payment is completed directly with PayPal; card details are entered with PayPal and never touch our servers.
- 03Site analytics — anonymized page-view and session data via PostHog to understand which pages are useful. IP addresses are truncated before storage.
How We Use It
Everything we collect is used for one or more of the following purposes:
- 01Delivering the Service you ordered — writing your resume, running your coaching session, sending your documents.
- 02Communicating with you about your engagement — draft delivery, revisions, scheduling, and support.
- 03Sending order confirmations, receipts, and (optionally) periodic client newsletters. You can unsubscribe from newsletters at any time.
- 04Improving the site and the studio's craft, in aggregated and anonymized form.
- 05Meeting our legal, tax, and accounting obligations.
Sub-Processors
We use a small, carefully chosen set of technology providers to run the studio. Each is bound by data-processing terms that mirror the commitments we make to you.
- 01PayPal — payment processing (never sees your resume or intake).
- 02Resend — transactional email delivery (order receipts, intake notifications).
- 03MongoDB Atlas / self-hosted MongoDB — encrypted storage of leads, orders, and intake records.
- 04PostHog — anonymized product analytics.
- 05Emergent — hosting and infrastructure for this website.
We do not use your data to train, fine-tune, or evaluate any third-party machine-learning model.
Retention
Active engagement records (drafts, revisions, coaching notes) are kept for the duration of the engagement plus 24 months, so we can support returning clients efficiently. You may request earlier deletion at any time.
Financial records are retained for the period required by applicable tax law (typically seven years).
Marketing enquiries that do not convert into an engagement are deleted after 12 months of inactivity.
Your Rights
You have a right to:
- 01Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you.
- 02Correction — ask us to correct anything that's inaccurate.
- 03Deletion — ask us to erase your data (subject to legal record-keeping obligations).
- 04Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format.
- 05Objection & restriction — opt out of specific uses, including marketing emails, at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, email cc@pivotpaper.us and we'll respond within one business day.
Cookies
The site uses a minimal set of cookies: a session cookie for the cart, and PostHog analytics cookies for anonymized usage measurement. We do not use advertising or retargeting cookies.
You can disable cookies in your browser at any time. If you do, the cart and some interactive features may not work as intended.
Security
All traffic is encrypted with HTTPS. Databases are encrypted at rest and access is limited to the two founders. Payment card data is handled exclusively by PayPal and never stored on our servers.
No online service is perfectly secure — in the unlikely event of a breach that affects you, we will notify you within 72 hours of discovery.
International Transfers
Our infrastructure providers may process data in the United States and Europe. When we transfer data across borders, we rely on standard contractual clauses or equivalent legal safeguards.
Changes & Contact
We revise this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes are announced by email to active clients.
For any privacy question, request, or complaint, email cc@pivotpaper.us. We aim to respond within one business day.
